The Beginnings of horse racing in Pardubice Region in the context of political and social history

In the minds of many people, steeplechase is inextricably linked with Pardubice, just like the famous Velká pardubická, which retains its unique charm even now. However, the way leading to the first Velká pardubická steeplechase was extremely difficult, and it almost looked that the toughest continental European steeplechase race will remain just a dream. This diploma thesis deals with the mapping of the beginnings of horse racing in Pardubice Region during the time of the Austrian Empire and Austria-Hungary and primarily aims to examine the influence of the nobility of that time on the emergence of horse racing in the given region and on its importance from a social and political point of view. Using the analytic-synthetic method and the study of historical sources, it was possible to confirm that the aristocracy played an essential role in the beginnings of horse racing in Pardubice Region, with the most important noble houses of Auersperg and Kinsky who first organized fox hunting, the predecessors of steeplechase crosscountry, and then they gradually started organizing steeplechase races. Nobility and their artistic foundation in the 18th century in Veseli nad Moravou

The thesis deals with the prime period of the town Veselí nad Moravou. The aim of this thesis is to define the foundation activity of aristocratic families in the Veselí region. Aspecial attention is devoted to the altar paintings, whose origin has not been so far elucidated. The main aim of the thesis is to describe religious paintings in three different churches and try to attribute possible authers of the paintings through a confrontation of available materials.

Bakalářská práce "Zámek v Kácově" stručně popisuje Kácov a dále historii majitelů zámku. Zaměřuji se na život a majetek nejvýznamnější majitelky zámku, Anny Marie Františky velkovévodkyně Toskánské. Dále píši o barokní přestavbě zámku, kde zmiňuji její dvorní umělce, kterými byli Karel Josef Moravini, František Cízar a sochař Ondřej Dubke. Velkou pozornost věnuji práci stavitele Václava Špačka. Popisuji také současný vzhled a vybavení kostela Narození Panny Marie a mariánského sloupu na náměstí, který zde nechala postavit kněžna. An aristocratic art patronage in the second half of the 19th century (Aristocracy in the Association of fine arts and the Society of the patriotic friends of arts)

The dissertation inquires into the participation of the historic aristocracy in the agency of the Society of the patriotic friends of arts and the Association of fine arts. On the basis of an analysis of the annual reports of both of the institutions a survey of selected aristocratic contributors and donators of works of art will be made. In addition to this, the dissertation focuses on several of the more or less noted aristocratic members of the named institutions. In this respect a form of their interest in collecting of artworks and in art patronage, shortly {--} in their virtu, will also be partly dealt with. As an introduction to the subject the survey is preceded by a text dealing with even earlier activities concerning art patronage and art collections that occured in the region of the Czech kingdom and also the Margraviate of Moravia.
